Earth Defense Corp, is inspired by the classic arcade game Missile Command. In this PC game, players defend Earth from relentless asteroid attacks using a combination of massive railguns and close-range missiles. The gameplay involves manually controlling these defenses to intercept threats while strategically upgrading systems between waves. The game offers two modes: a Story Mode with a defined narrative and increasing wave complexity, and an Arcade Mode focused on achieving high scores with infinite wave progression.The story begins with Earth realizing that consecutive asteroid strikes are deliberate attacks, prompting the formation of the Earth Defense Corp. Players take on the role of the Commander, responsible for managing and upgrading Earth's defenses. The narrative drives the urgency and stakes of each wave, with players making critical decisions to enhance their capabilities.The art style features simple pixel art for menus, railgun displays, and upgrade panels, complemented by a radar-style overlay for tracking incoming asteroids. The games audio includes an electronic combat track and a lighter menu theme, realistic explosion sounds, missile launch cues, and alert warnings for incoming waves.Developed in Unity, Earth Defense Corp presents technical challenges such as real-time physics for projectiles, a node-based upgrade system, and automatic targeting mechanisms. The development timeline includes 2 weeks of pre-production, 2 months of production, 4 weeks of testing, and 1 month for launch preparations. Self-funded and developed solo, Earth Defense Corp targets casual gamers and retro game enthusiasts, offering a nostalgic yet innovative experience in planetary defense.
