News Update: October 2025

Another month and another little news update on the site. There hasn't been too many changes to the site, as September has been a fairly busy month overall in the video game industry. I finally finished putting off adding image modals to all the articles. All the high resolution screenshots I've been including in articles are now available in their full resolution glory.

I've clued up a substantial code cleanup, and made substantial progress on the WYSIWYG editor which now has all the original features of my basic editor available in live preview. With the exception of a few rough spots when switching between preview and the full HTML, it's fully working.

I've also started adding unit testing throughout the site, less website stability and more just to learn the ropes of unit testing, integration testing as a preamble to future projects and improved update pipelines.

As for the rest of general video game news, September shaped up to be a pretty substantial month with Hollow Night: Silksong finally landing after 7 years in-development and essentially breaking the internet, insofar as online game stores are concerned. We also saw Hades II and Borderlands 4 launch, but that was far from the only note worth happening in September. A number of major industry pundits have speculated that not only was September a hallmark month, but October is shaping up to be even busier, with more than fifty titles planning to drop in October. Including Ghosts of Yōtei, Little Nightmares III, and Battlefield 6, which have already been released.

That's not even touching on the continued turbulence regarding pricing changes throughout the industry, but that may have a home in a featured article all its own later down the road.
